I'm sure that someone's caught this before, but it made me gasp in surprise when I noticed it.

During the first episode, when Claude and Eustace arrive at Bertie's flat, the dialogue runs something like this...
Claude: He's not Bertie!
Eustace: He's better looking than Bertie.

Also, right afterward, Claude and Eustace's friend (Rainsby, I think?) is in the kitchen with them, and Eustace tells him to "Go get the things, dollface." [Edit: Turns out he actually says 'Dogface'. Shame.]

Oh, the slashiness. How it hurts.
So...any other good Claude or Eustace moments? Anyone?

Is this in the books at all? I mean, Claude and Eustace are very, very camp in the TV series, but how much is this the production team having a bit of fun and how much is The Genuine Article?

Shame...

I thought he said "dogface".

Eustace says dogface in the story, too.

It sucks that the series isn't captioned. There's still a few lines where I can't make out what was said. :(

It was Dogface. That was the guy's nickname. Like Harold "Stinker" Pinker. I'll have to watch the episode again to get his full name. But I don't mind if the 'l' replaced the 'g' :)

Ditto. Still funny though.

Haha, I love that part. Doesn't Jeeves just go "Thank you, sir."?

Well, he would.

I loved that bit in the tv show and I gasped too. They were totally hitting on Jeeves. :P

Okay it may very well have been written to be an insult against Bertie, but it came across as so incredibly gay and ... camp.

Though the entire club Bertie's in seems pretty damned camp.

There's one episode later on where Bertie's supposed to keep one of his friends away from the theatre, on command of his aunt, but he doesn't know it as he never got the letter because the friend destroyed it. That whole 'keep him away from those awful theatre people!' and how he started going around dressed similarly to Noel Coward, made me think!

Well, when the actors are Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie, whadya spect? The books themselves are pretty slashy, but the TV series went to town.

OH! Yes! In the scene at The Drones in the first episode, Claude and Eustace are SO VERY fruitily fabulously gay. Good lord, they might as well have feather boas instead of ties. There's a mental picture. Ha.

BTW - The twins are played by two other chaps later on in the series who seem younger and far more hetero.
