I think as a plot bunny for strict cannon it might not work. However, I think if we're considering the television characters, it might be different. They are both very attractive in their roles, and the lift attendant does not appear to feel inferior in any way. Actually, when they're trying to get Wilmott back into the apartment, the lift attendant actually seems to have a slightly superior attitude. Those scenes were fun to watch.
