I'm looking for a fic

I'm looking for a fic; I remember neither the title nor the author, but I do remember bits of the plot. It was Jeeves/Wooster, multi-chaptered (I believe it was rather long), and the plot was that, for a reason I can't recall, Bertie had to play the role of Jeeves' valet. Jeeves took to the role of master astoundingly well and was quite stern with Bertie; I remember feeling sorry for him.

That's all I can remember! Assistance would be wonderful! :D

Was it Adventures in Valeting (http://woe-in-a-hoodie.livejournal.com/167408.html) by [livejournal.com profile] woe_in_a_hoodie?

No problem! I have about a zillion fics in my memories, but I just happened to read that one recently.

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's awesome, I've not read this!
But isn't there another one, where a friend ask Jeeves to pretend to be an author and Bertie goes as his valet and has to room with a guy who sees he's a terrible valet and figures Jeeves is keeping him around for other things, which makes Bertie wonder what those other things are?

What? I'd thought I'd ask, since all the fics on indeed sir need to be saved in my memories. Maybe we should make pdfs of all the years fics so people can download and keep 'em. Or print books with all that spare money and time we've got.')

It's really good! Super angsty, and you simply must feel for Bertie, but he perseveres and it all pays off.

Is that the one where they are in upstate New York or something, or is it a different one?

Ohhh, wouldn't that be amazing? I am guilty of making a lot of them into mobi files and putting them on my Kindle. Nothing is more amazing than reading filthy dirty fanfic in the middle of a restaurant or on the metro or whatever. No one will ever know!

Dr. Midgery Marjory? I love the way they say Marjory in Utoxita;)

I'm on the third chapter and it is awesomeness already!

Light_Frost sent a link to the one I was talking about.

I try to go back through the archives at Indeedsir and see one, oh, I liked that one, and I go reread it, so I haven't made it far back in the archives. This comm is just so awesome with so many great artists and writers and stories everything's worth having a hard copy of! Though some portable pronz and such on a kindle would be awesome, giggling like a thing that giggles madly in the middle of a public place!

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. Peter and John are so hilarious. Marjorie, that hellhound. DAMN!

Ooh, must see if I've read it.

It really is. There is some incredibly well-written fic in this fandom. I love it. I just worked my way through all 39 pages of this (http://delicious.com/jwfics?&page=1) for the hell of it. People probably think I'm insane when I'm reading fic on the Kindle. I'm all :0 half the time, and laughing like a loon the other half.

I've been avoiding Delicious, planning to get through the archive here first. I'm never going to, but that's very cool in it's own way=)

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't blame you. It was a vast undertaking. I've been working on both of them. I'm back about 6 years on this comm, if you can believe that. I clearly have no life outside Jeeves & Wooster! Best of luck making in the whole way through!

[identity profile] erynn999.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 09:33 am (UTC)(link)
A lot of the links on delicious are broken at the moment. We're in negotiation for me to take some responsibility for putting things back together and adding to that link archive.

either Stephen or Hugh (possibly both of them?) has a thing for the name Marjorie; it shows up with amazing frequency in Boffle.

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Which I love, b/c my real name is Marjorie and on tv it's either on old people or cows. Plus, people who read it can't pronounce it! I'm like, it's one of the oldest, most commonly mocked names in the pasty white person world, don't be acting like you've never heard it. It's Marge Simpson's real name, for pitys sake!
Rant aside, I do love how Marjorie is such a damn! in Boffle =)

"Nothing is more amazing than reading filthy dirty fanfic in the middle of a restaurant or on the metro or whatever. No one will ever know!"

I need an e-reader for this very reason.

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
It's worth it just for that reason alone! Plus, you can get nearly all of Plum's short stories and a few of the Jooster novels for free on Amazon, and the rest of them are $10 or under.

Well, if they're on AO3 it's super easy to get them as whatever ebook format you want--just click the download button, choose your format, and voila. This is why I wish all fics were posted to AO3, because I don't have the technical skill or the patience to convert, say, posts on LJ into ePubs.

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
HOW DID I MISS THAT?! I feel so stupid. I've been doing the old select all text, copy and paste into a text file, turn into a pdf, then using Calibre to convert to mobi. AO3 is a marvel, though.

You're welcome!

[identity profile] erynn999.livejournal.com 2011-11-23 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Gods, yes. I have a metric fuckton of AO3 fic on my iPad.

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Damn. I didn't get your notification and posted the same thing!

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
You got the fic you wanted, and got me the fic I wanted, so I guess this was a good post! Thanks for posting;)

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
I found the one I was talking about. Not sure if this is the one you meant.

Yes, sir, Jeeves (http://skyblue-reverie.livejournal.com/12601.html)

[identity profile] gini-baggins.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay thank you :D Haven't read that one before!!!

[identity profile] chuffing.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! It was really fantastic.

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Love that Icon! Do you know what character he's going to be in the Hobbit? Who is the voice of Smog? Blame my dial up for not being able to troll the gossip sites!

[identity profile] gini-baggins.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
It's from my own camera *proud*
I still can't believe my own nerve to ask him to hold my hobbits hahaha!!! xD *geek*

He's casted as the Master of Lake Town, not a huge part, but he's in the freaking Hobbit (FANDOM COLLISION FTW?!). The voice of Smaug is done by Benedict Cumberbatch according to IMDB. So excited for the Hobbit, you can't imagine :))))

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 10:04 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh, I think I can;)
Have you seen the Eye of Suaron Pez dispenser at Wal-Mart? I started cackling in the middle of the store, getting strange looks. Not many, as it's walmart at Christmas time, but still...

Last I heard, Lenard Nimoy was voice of Smaug. Him and Fry in a movie, sort of together? Nerd + head = explosion.

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-21 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
See, so excited I forgot to change my icon and overlooked the whole 'you've met Stephen Fry' squee of jealous glee.

[identity profile] gini-baggins.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
*sends Stephen shaped brownies your way*

Haha yes I've seen them at the Tolkien shop in Leiden, but they were quite expensive... I've seen them a lot cheaper on the internet! :)))

Yes there's been a lot of shifting of actors for the voice of Smaug, it is a really difficult part to cast. I imagine the voice to be deep and very impressive. I'm so eager to hear :DDD

[identity profile] trista-zevkia.livejournal.com 2011-11-22 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
No! Don't tell me about Tolkien shops I can't afford to shop in, it breaks my little heart. I only got through the stuff I couldn't buy when the LOTR movies were coming out by telling myself I'd be able to buy it later... Later hasn't come yet.
Complete set of LOTR pez dispensers at Walmart is 16.00. maybe I'll convince my niece to buy me a set, I'll buy her a set and we'll just switch for Christmas. That's how I got my action figure of Treebeard and she got Gollum. I'm a weird person, I cheered in the theater when the Ents went to war. It's the environut in me =)
