Florence is probably just that kind of tired old sexist trope who just wants a man to sort her out, but your second explanation is way more interesting. I think her sub should be...Gussie!

See, a lot of the controlling people I've met use it as a test, as managerie said above, but Florence... I dunno. I think she actually wants a guy who is both a real man and capable of the ridiculous capers she lands him in, and will let her pick all his clothes and spank him if he gets out of line. XD

Of course, since he's Bingo, he'd do stupid shit and earn her ire. Really, the more I think about it, the more I think Florence needs Jeeves and Bertie's lovechild. Brilliant, masculine, amazing at everything, capable of great feats... and totally submissive. XD
