Request/Discussion

So.  I need more lesbian!Madeline.  Like breathing.  If you can throw her and Honoria in with her friend Hilda, who I'm pretty sure is BBC only ("There's a damned man behind the sofa.") I will love you forever.   Not that you have to produce or link me to anything to earn my undying love, you can just tell me your thoughts on femmeslash for this series.

Also: Florence Craye: in search of someone who will stand up to her, or the perfect 24/7 sub who actually gets off on how controlling she is?  Discuss.

I kept trying to envision Madeline and Honoria and realized that I can't see them as anyone but Virginia Woolf (sorry, Virginia) and Vita Sackville-West, sort of, having some kind of hilariously OTT Orlando-style affair. I can hear the series' Madeline lisping, I have found my mate. It is the moor! I am nature's bride! And Honoria riding up on a hunt, and Madeline crying, "I'm dead, sir!" with an entire pack of beagles swarming around them curiously.

Also, Florence's intellectual bent makes me think that she wants somebody closer to her equal. She gets off on power games like most Wodehouse ladies, but she really does seem disappointed that Bertie just isn't up to Nietzsche. I see her as the kind of controlling person who wants to have plenty of submissive people around, so that she always has the option to walk over them at will, but is ultimately bored and unhappy without someone who she can see as an equal or a challenge. IDK, she might do well in an epic ho-yay feud with somebody like Stiffy? For some reason I can see her having a vicious, lifelong, totally nonsexual professional rivalry with Rosie M Banks, and in her middle/later years, realizing that this relationship is actually more important to her, emotionally, than her marriage with whatever browbeaten Drone she ended up with and enjoyed molding for all those decades.

I would read either of these instantly. :DDD

Now I'm imagining slashing Florence Cray with Tilda Swinton. Mind-boggling.
