Trying a new artistic medium...

I got into embroidery something over a year ago and have done it off and on since then. I’ve recently gotten back into it, so one of the first pieces I did was something Joostery.

Looking back, there are some minor color choices I’d change. I tried to follow the colors of the cap I used as closely as possible, but all that brown, grey & black is a tad dull. Still, overall, I’m pretty happy with this. I’d definitely like to do more Jooster stitchery eventually (though in a cuter and less “realistic” style). :D

Ah, combining two of my favorite things! Love it.

Oh, brilliant! In particular the clothes and the lettering come out really really well. My embroidery looks like those terrible things you find in thrift stores for 45 cents. I would love to see more stitichings!

That's really well done, esp if you've only been stitching for like a year. I've been stitching for 13, and I can't get my stitches nearly as neat and controlled as that. Is the shading on the tie stitched on or drawn on? It's so hard to tell cause everything's so neat and...good. *is jealous*

Ah, that's lovely! I love how realistic it looks. Make a great silhouette, even.

That's fantastic! Great way to combine 2 loves...

Oh god, that is so cool!
Is there anything you can't do? :D I'm looking forward for seeing more of these :)

Good Lord! That is lovely. It's so.... them, if you get what I mean. You're so clever.

Wow... that´s just... Wow O_O
In my mind I see it in the Wooster-apartement at the wall with the letters: "Home sweet home about Bertie Wooster and Reginald Jeeves" Awww... ^^

Aaaw! That's just lovely :D

You know, I used to do embroidery. And by that I mean I used to make a large and un-identifiable mess on cloth.

This is impressive!

I wouldn't have imagined such a thing was possible. Absolutely amazing. I'm sure Bertie'd love some kerchiefs embroidered like that, too.

[identity profile] storyfan.livejournal.com 2009-08-16 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. I've been working a cross-stitch thing for years. And that was with a pre-printed pattern.

You, ironicbees, are endlessly talented. Now you'll have to monogram some hankerchiefs just to annoy Jeeves.

Aw, that's lovely!!

[identity profile] emeraldreeve.livejournal.com 2009-08-17 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Very, very lovely! Wonderful work!

[identity profile] storyfan.livejournal.com 2009-08-18 04:41 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect you might be right about Jeeves.

It's a garden pattern, about 8.5 by 11 inches, with flowers and vegetables and ivy growing around it. It's actually quite pretty and you get to use a lot of colors, but I'm easily bored with patterns. I feel like I can't very them - I don't know why. I don't think the cross-stitch police are going to come after me for it. It's about 2/3rds done and will probably stay that way.

You could monogram hankies with a tiny bowler hat in one corner.
