The Podfic Of Abington Chase...

Hello there again all! In nearly record time for me, Here is a brand new shiney podfic for your listening enjoyment.  I've taken the chance and went ahead to record "Jeeves & The Tale of Abington Chase." I can see some of you cringing to already. 'Oh Emp, why would you go out of your way to hurt poor Jeeves in clear glorius stereo?' you're asking. The reasons are neumorus and you can hear about them in the podfic's commentary.

Anywho, the podfic at hand. This is the last podfic in [livejournal.com profile] skyblue_reverie 's main Jeeves & Wooster series. From here on out, It's nothing but one shots. Although, I'm not going to rush into anything. Plus, I gotta save my voice for [livejournal.com profile] waqaychay's Rocky Todd fic (Hint Hint, Qay: POST MORE! XD) So while I WILL be taking a shortish break from podficcing for the time, this podfic is a good deal longer than my other outtings, as well as having NEW and EXTRA musics. You can think of this as my...season finale, so to speak.

Title: Jeeves & The Tale of Abington Chase (Found in print HERE and HERE)
Author: Originally Written by [livejournal.com profile] skyblue_reverie  and read by [livejournal.com profile] theempress14  (with permission, of course)
Pairing: Jeeves/Bertie
Rating: NC-17 for explicit non-con
Disclaimer: Neither the characters nor the story belong to me. They belong to PG Wodehouse and [livejournal.com profile] skyblue_reverie  respectivly. I merely  tried to inject a little life into them through the recorded word.

(This road leads to Abington Chase. Do you dare follow?)

For new listeners, mayhaps you'd like to stat at the begining of the series, "The Matter of Mr. Wooster's Headaches".

OMG I LISTENED TO IT LAST NIGHT AND CRIED AND CRIED. ;_; damn, girl. that was good. i am in awe.

although i have to say that i found the piano music under the worst bits a little distracting. it was a beautiful piece and fit the situation just perfectly, but i think that would work better if you used other instrumental bits along the way, as it were. it seemed a bit odd to have just the one. or maybe that was just me.

CHOP CHOP! i can't wait for my turn! :D

[identity profile] waqaychay.livejournal.com 2008-09-09 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
then you certainly met your goal, my dear.

don't get me wrong, i'm not saying it was bad. i loved it! i'm just saying that it might have been more effective if you added in other background music pieces. i really don't think you have to redo it. maybe it's just something to think about the next time you do a long piece like AC?

i can't wait, myself! *lol* i'm starting on part three now. "three" being the optional word, if you get me. ;D

Apparently when I say "I'll come back tomorrow and comment in more detail" I mean I'll totally space out on it. -.-

I really like your voices, especially Jeeves's. The Bertie voice is deliciously cartoony, as well.

Downloading now. Thank you!

It's the best one so far. Seriously. Wow. It broke my heart, and I loved it.

*goes to chemist*
Chemist: Why, hello there, I haven't seen you here before-new in town?
Me:...
C:...Missus?
M:...
C: Are you alright?
M: Wha-? Ssst! Lemme alone! CAN'T YOU SEE I AM LISTENING?
Just kidding. I grumbled a humble apology, as civilized people do.

I love how you interrupted the harsh bit with that Evanescence song. Brilliant idea. I was really preparing myself for a kick in the stomach, but even if that song made it sadder, but also easier to listen to.
Oh, and Jeeves's baby voice. Much love to that. You put so much expression in Jeeves voice this time-even the older Jeeves! And crying Bertie.
Just, everything, amazing.

Well done, laddie! *pats you head* Well done! *rofl*

No really, super!

is there an overall series title for these stories? i'd really like to be able to group them as a category in the archive...

Loved it, as usual. I downloaded it to my Zen and was pedaling away on the stationary bike at the gym listening to it, when I noticed that every guy that passed by me looked at me and smiled. This NEVER, EVER happens, and it happened continuously while I was listening to your podfic. Must have been some crazy smile on my face!

Dear Madam:

I downloaded this thinking I would never, ever listen to it. But I did. And it made me pass two entire commutes in a complete daze. The voice of Jeeves getting choked up actually sounded like him, and so did Bertie while getting hysterical. And the evil butler's voice was so evil, it made my skin crawl. This story is, and I mean this with no disrespect to skybluereverie, so improved when you can hear it. I am on the fence about the use of the piano tune mid-story; it was jarring, but perhaps that is a good thing at that point? Hmmm, no, I think I would have rather heard only what Bertie heard, if that makes any sense. But it was an interesting choice, and I applaud you for attempting it. I think we should all push ourselves to make better and cooler sounding podfics, and this one certainly is wonderfully made.

Okay, I don't think I've written to you before, but my brain is broken and I'm not sure.

Now that you've finished this series, would you like me to compile all 4 podfics into a podbook for you? This just adds a cover, makes it automatically bookmarkable, and, for those with iTunes, moves it out of the Music folder and into a separate Audiobooks folder where it won't be seen or heard when browsing or listening to songs. It also then automatically shows up in an Audiobooks playlist on an iPod. I've done hundreds of these including a few for [livejournal.com profile] triedunture.

If you'd like me to, just drop me a line and I'll compile and post it (with links back to your own, of course).

Great! I'll get it done today.

Late late late comment but...

*wail*

This is not to be listened to when one has not slept in over 24 hours!!!

*more bawling ensues*

You make this too real!

*drowns in tears*

*sniff sniff* Well done. *blub*

*wibble*

Ok...Lets see if I can pull myself together for a few moments here. Coherence check...one...two...good.

Just found all of these wonderful audio works and I can't wait to listen to the others. I love skyblue's works very much and I am pleased you have brought them to life.

Amazing voice work. Just. Amazing. The emotion you pump into each character, each situation is stunning. I really don't know what to do with myself right now. I'm sick to my stomach from the nose-breaking scene but some of that is mediated by Bertie's subsequent break-down.

I think there is more I would or should say but I just can't manage right now.

Thank you, though, for doing these!

*weeps just a little more*
