Turns out I did bother to write down one of the slashy bits from a Jeeves book...mostly because I was so mindboggled I had to share it with someone to see if I was going insane.

They are visiting Steeple Bumpleigh, and Bertie has just unexpectedly run into Jeeves in the garden in the middle of the night.

( One could scarecly desire more delightful conditions for a nocturnal ramble. )
