Some people do just have a great deal of presence, and it can overwhelm other perceptions of them. I suspect Jeeves might even be able to loom silently if he's slightly shorter than Bertie, though it does kind of clash with my perception of him.
An odd example from a musical performance I went to in late 1979 or early 1980 -- I went to a concert by Little River Band when I was living in Hawai'i. The lead singer was a tiny guy but he took up the entire damned stage when he was performing. You'd never really have thought he was several inches shorter than everyone else. Doing that while you're silent and supposed to be invisible (like a good valet) would be a hell of a lot harder, though.
