This may fit into a story I'm writing.

Bertie and Jeeves go to a Masquerade Ball, Bertie as...Robin Hood...and Jeeves as either Sherlock Holmes or the Scarlet Pimpernel. The others at the ball (not at the Drones, btw, and containing no Drones) think Jeeves' costume is rather stuffy and unadventurous (they being rather the flashier cabaret set), but Bertie thinks its spiffing. He tries to tell them so, without seeming, you know, homosexual. (Not that they would care. And he probably is a little, I mean, what comm is this? ^_^ But he doesn't want to seem like he's crushing on his valet, even if no one there knows it's his valet.)

Good idea?

Also...suggest costumes! For Bertie and Jeeves, for women, for men, based on fictional characters, based on Lady Gaga outfits--whatever you like!

P.S. Once I actually have a substantial bit written, does anyone want to beta for me? *hopefully ingratiating grin* o_o;;

One suggestion, since I recall that the Jazz Age was also the era of King Tut mania: an Egyptian Pharaoh.

Sounds like a spiffy idea!

Costume ideas for women:

- The seven deadly sins/seven heavenly virtues
- Agatha Christie or her character Miss Marple
- The Madonna (or for the risque, Mary Magdalene)
- Gloria Swanson
- Louise Brooks
- Coco Chanel
- Zelda Sayre (or generic flapper dancers)

Costume ideas for gents:

- Christie's character Hercule Poirot
- Al Capone (or other gangster types)
- Charlie Chaplin
- Einstein
- Greeks in togas
- Roman gladiator paired with a lion
- Any of the characters from the original Winnie the Pooh novel

Jeeves does have an abundance of little gray cells. All the fish, you know.

Back then one of the big social events - masquerade catagory - was an annual *servants* ball in London. It was supposed to be just for the 'under the stairs' sorts - but it got popular and so lots of other folks tried to score tickets. Jeeves would qualify to buy tickets - and he *might* be persuaded to bring Bertie along.

It also had something of a 'gay' reputation. (In the modern sense of the word.)
