not important

Does it ever say what happened to Bertie's parental units? I'm sure this is one of those things we're not supposed to wonder about, being that the books are so much silly... But I can't help myself. *crams head against a wall and stops thinking about it*

I've been under the impression that they died when he was young. Not sure if that's rooted in canon, though.

No, good question - I'm always wondering about contextual stuff like this myself. I can't answer it, though! Here's hoping someone else can. *peers downwards in the hope that illuminating comments will appear below*

It's mentioned in one of the books (I belive it's Jeeves and the Feudal Spirit) that Bertie's father has passed away, I think. Not sure about his mother, though.

As far as I can tell, they're both dead, and they died when Bertie was extremely young so that he was raised by a series of aunts.

One of the books refers to 'the late Mr. Wooster' (his father, not Bertie himself of course), and there are several references by Bertie to being raised by his aunts at a young age (though I could be reading too much into those comments). With all the money he has, it suggest an inheritance, and Bertie does once or twice call himself "The last of the Woosters" -- which I guess could mean the youngest or the actual last Wooster.

i'm so certain in one of the books it also mentions his 'late mother' too. but i haven't got a clue which - i'm very certain because i too had been wondering this and let out a big 'ooooohhhhh' at that point. same for his father. Then it clicked where all his money came from.

From reading a Wodehouse biography or two I get the impression that parents weren't a big thing in his life. Maybe that's why.
